Witchford Walks - Walk 7

Witchford Walk 7

This walk of about 15 minutes takes you to the South of Main Street with views across Grunty Fen to Haddenham.

From The Village Inn turn right into Main Street. After passing the Post Office enter Mills Lane on the left; a pleasant lane which at its end takes you left along a ‘Private Carriageway’ leading to Fulton Corner. Before turning left at the end of Mills Lane look to your right across the open fenland to Haddenham on its small hill complete with water tower. At the end of the ‘carriageway’ bear left towards the farmhouse.

Before reaching the house a five bar gate to your right (the footpath is well marked with the yellow arrow way markers) takes you into a paddock where a diagonal path through gates brings you back to Main Street. Before leaving the paddock look back and enjoy the view.

Please remember to close all gates. Note of interest. The tithe map of 1840 shows the plot on which the present farm house is built as being owned by a Robert Wilkin and the tenants as Robert and Matthew Seymour.
