An investigation is underway after there were two car accidents on the A142 at Witchford yesterday (Friday, November 1st).  Both accidents happened within hours of each other at exactly the same location - the first at around 0305hrs and the second at 0620hrs.

Emergency services were called to both accident and firefighters had to cut the roof off one vehicle to release the driver.  Thankfully, the injuries of those involved are not thought to have beens serious.

Many motorists living in Witchford have described how that particular stretch of road was covered in mud which had made it very slippy and, as a result, had reported this to the police on Thursday night.

A police spokeswoman said officers are now investigating the cause of the accident

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We would urge drivers to take extra care on the roads at the moment.

“On some of the rural roads in East Cambridgeshire especially there appears to be a lot of mud, making driving conditions sometimes difficult, particularly in the morning.

“It’s also worth reminding motorists to properly clear their windscreens before they set off on their journeys.”
