Witchford Parish Plan - Annual Update (July 2009)

The Witchford Parish Plan was published a year ago, so the steering committee recently met up to review the progress that the Parish Council has made with the actions recommended in the plan.

The committee is pleased to report that positive progress has continued with all of the actions, with a high proportion of them complete or taken as far as practicable. Of the remaining actions, these are either in progress, e.g. longer term projects, or are in the hands of third party organisations. The review extends to four pages and can be downloaded from Witchford Online by clicking here. Alternatively contact the parish clerk who will arrange for you to receive a paper copy.

The most proactive action that the Parish Council has taken as a result of the Parish Plan is to commission an audit of the facilities available to the community in Witchford, i.e. public meeting places. The purpose of this is to help the Council plan and justify how to spend the funds that it has available to improve provision of facilities in Witchford. This audit is being performed by a specialist research company and is funded entirely by grants. The results of the audit are due to be available in October 2009. Details will be published in the Witchfordian and on Witchford Online.

To learn more about the Witchford Parish Plan you can download the report and data from the survey, as well as the latest update on the list of actions, by clicking on the links below right. If you require more in-depth detail then please either email us at Witchford Online (address in the banner at the top of the page) or contact the parish clerk.

Parish Plans are being produced by communities across the country. They are recognised as being a ‘good thing’, in that they encourage communities to indicate how they would like their town or village to develop, to identify key facilities and services, to set out the problems that need to be tackled and demonstrate how its distinctive character and features can be preserved. One of the most important aspects of a Parish Plan is that it forms strategic links with influential organisations, such as the district and county councils, police and primary care trust.

The Witchford Parish Plan was produced with the objective of identifying the actions that will ensure the village develops in the way the community wishes. Now that it is in place the Parish Council is working to ensure that the actions identified in the plan are implemented.
