Local Councils

In the responses received to the Parish Plan, some people felt that they were not sure who did what within the different layers of local government. We hope the following information will help.

In November 2010 we received a document detailing useful information about the various facilities provided by the district council. Please click here to download this file.

A useful guide to how local councils work has been published recently - it is aimed at community groups and can be downloaded by clicking here.

In June 2011 Cambridgeshire Trading Standards suggested that we add links to their webpages. They provide information about how to get advice on consumer issues and how to report concerns; there is advice on the most common problems they come across including scams and rogue traders, and about the issues they are currently tackling.
The link is www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/consumer.
They also have business pages which provide information on how to seek business advice on trading law issues which might be relevant to small businesses operating locally. The link is www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/trading
