Neighbourhood Watch
The Home Office’s “purpose statement” for Neighbourhood Watch is that Neighbourhood and Home Watch exists to:
- Prevent crime, and the opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour
- Reassure local residents, and reduce the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
- Reduce the incidence of domestic fires and environmental damage to residential property
- Encourage neighbourliness and community cohesion
- Improve the quality of life for local residents and tenants
A fairly large proportion of Witchford is covered by Neighbourhood Watch schemes and it makes sense to join, especially as you may qualify for a discount on your home insurance. Although crime is generally very low in the village, we have our fair share of vandalism and theft. The telephone number for contacting Cambridgeshire police is 0345 456 456 4. General information on how to contact the police is contained in this link. You can download a useful document about general Neighbourhood, crime and safety advice by clicking here.
